USSA announces Club of the Year awards (Ski Racing)

In mid-April the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) announced its five snow sports “Club of the Year” award recipients. The Waterville Valley Black and Blue Trail Smashers (WVBBTS) freestyle ski club of New Hampshire received the award for the third time in the club’s history.

2 stores nearly ready in Tikahtnu Commons (Anchorage Daily News)

Two new major stores should open in the next six weeks at the Tikahtnu Commons in East Anchorage, according to Cook Inlet Region Inc., the Anchorage company developing the giant mall.

Sports youth briefs (South St. Paul - Inver Grove Heights Sun-Current)

The Lakeville South High School boys golf team will have its third annual junior tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Heritage Links in Lakeville. The nine-hole tournament is open to boys ages 8-14. Cost is $35 per player, which includes green fee, T-shirt, lunch, bag tags and prizes.

Ski racer Vonn nominated for Laureus Award (Denver Post)

Lindsey Vonn, Ski and Snowboard Club Vail’s two-time FIS World Cup overall champion and double World Championships gold medalist, has been nominated for world sportswoman of the year, to be named at the Laureus World Sports Awards.

Injury halts young skier at world festival (Daily Inter Lake)

Whitefish slopestyle skier Mitch Gilman had a strong season finish at the TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival in British Columbia. Gilman was the only Montana skier invited to the prestigious competition.
